Another shabu pusher was killed, the 10th since July 1, during a buy-bust operation in Tugbungan at dawn Tuesday.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, City Police Office’s Information Officer, said the slain suspect,  Melvin Tantiado alias Katuti  sustained bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

A police report disclosed that men of the Tetuan Police Station led by Supt. Nonito Asdai conducted a but-bust operation targeting Tantiado. After the exchange of marked money and a sachet of shabu with a police poseur buyer, Tantiado sensed he was the subject of a police operation. He drew a .38 cal. revolver and opened fired prompting the policemen to shoot back, killing him.

The lawmen recovered from Tantiado a .38 cal. revolver with three bullets in the cylinder, three sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Tantiado is the tenth shabu pusher killed in nine police operations in Zamboanga City since President Rodrigo Duterte declared war against prohibited drugs in the country. His body was brought to a funeral parlor for post mortem examination. – Dan Toribio
