The Regional Maritime Unit-9  has signed a memorandum of agreement  with the local government of Dapitan City for an adopt-a-boat project.

Th signing was held Friday last week at Dapitan’s new Government Center’s conference room .

Supt. Salbino C.  Piad, chief, RMU-9,  said that under the MOA, the Dapitan City  government would adopt a Police Patrol Boat (PPB 06) with the responsibility repairing and mantaining it to be utilized by Maritime police to enforce the fisheries law, Marine ordinance at sea, rules and regulations along Dapitan City’s coasts . It is also used against lawlessness and criminalities commited at sea, piracy and illegal fishing activities.

The signatories to the MOA are  Mayor Rosalina G. Jalosjos represented by Vice Mayor Ruben Cad,  Wilfredo Magallanes, Philippine National Police Maritime Group Officer in Charge Sr. Supt. Edmund A. Gonzales, Supt. Salbino C. Piad, SPO4 Allan S. Pestañas Police Non-Commission Officer in Charge of 904th Maritime Police Station of Zamboanga del Norte and others.

The MOA signing was witnessed by the employees of Dapitan City, representatives from the Philippine Coast Guard, Dept. of Agriculture, Dapitan City Police Station and other agencies.

Piad thanked Mayor Jalosjos for shouldering the repair and rehabilitation of the patrol boat and their full support to the Regional Maritime Unit- 9. The patrol boat will be also stationed at the 904th Maritime Station based in the Port of Pulauan, Dapitan City.  — Allen Abastillas
