31 trafficking victims rescued in Zambo City PDF Print E-mail

Government operatives rescued Thursday night 31 would-be victims of human trafficking in Barangay Cawit in the city’s west coast.

The rescue came with the arrest of the victims’ two recruitment coordinators.

The Philippine Center on Transnational Crimes Western Mindanao Field Office said they had conducted a long surveillance against the suspected human traffickers that ended in the arrest of their two coordinators.

The victims are mostly women from different places in the country. They would have been transported into small pumpboats and then transferred at midsea to a big wooden hull seacraft before proceeding at 7:00 Friday night to Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia. They were promised jobs as domestic helpers in Dubai .

Combine government operatives spotted the victims with the two coordinators in Recodo. The victims were intended to be shipped to Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia

The victims, who arrived in Zamboanga City on August 6, told investigators that their passports were in the possession of Nuen Salem. The two coordinators were identified as Nas Lanchinibre and Macel Hamed.

All 31 were placed in the custody of the Visayan Forum to undergo de-briefing and counseling before sending them to their home provinces.

PCTCMFO  personnel were backed up by men of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Dept.
