Mayor Celso Lobregat will turn over this morning to the 6th Air Reserve Center at the Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB) in Sta. Maria, the P1.3 million multi-purpose gazebo, another project initiated and funded by the city government in support of the Philippine Air Force members who are serving the city and its people.

The turn over ceremony, set at 10:30am today, will be preceded by the unveiling of the marker, ribbon-cutting ceremony and the blessing of the multi-purpose gazebo.
Maj. Gen. Renato Sanchez, Commander of the 3rd Air Division, Brig. Gen. Ramiro Busalanan, Commander of the Air Force Reserve Command and Sta. Maria Barangay chairman Justo Lacandalo will accept the project from the mayor.

The gazebo is only one of the numerous projects that the city government under the Lobregat administration implemented inside the Air Base in Sta. Maria in line with the thrust of the local government’s thrust to look after the welfare of Philippine Air Force members who are serving the city and its people.

Since 2008, over P5 million worth of projects were implemented inside the base. The list of projects include the rehabilitation/improvement of the 2-storey 6 classroom building at the EAAB Elementary School worth P1.245 million; the concreting of road and construction of 2 drainage systems worth P1.7 million that were inaugurated last September 25, 2009 and the rehabilitation/ improvement of comfort rooms at the EAAB Elementary School.

For the year 2010, the city funded the concreting of road consisting 358 linear meters worth P1.379 million—a project that was inaugurated and turned over last June 3, 2010 when the 3rd Air Division accorded the chief executive military honors in recognition of Lobregat’s feat as the duly elected mayor for the third term and as a demonstration of gratitude to the Lobregat administration which has poured in funding for the implementation of various projects for the benefit of the airmen inside the EAAB.

On September 25, 2009, the PAF also accorded the mayor military honors as a show of gratitude for the numerous projects implemented by the city inside the base.
Mayor Lobregat has time and again assured the members of the PAF of his continued cooperation and support as he also assured that the airmen’s sterling service and sacrifices for the love of country, flag and people have not gone unnoticed. — Sheila Covarrubias
