The newly-reorganized league of mayors in North Cotabato province on Thursday assured President Rodrigo Duterte of its support to his administration’s southern peace program.

Mayor Roger Talino of Carmen town in the 3rd district of North Cotabato on Thursday told reporters he and other members of the league shall cooperate with Malacanang’s peace overture with Southern Moro communities.

Talino, father of North Cotabato’s provincial governor, Emmylou, most known as “Lala,” was reelected president of the provincial league of mayors early this week.

Talino said he and the newly-elected officers of the league, whose vice president is Mayor Vicente Suropia, Jr. of Aleosan town, will also support extensively President Rodrigo Duterte’s nationwide anti-narcotics campaign.

The league is comprised of 17 municipal mayors and the chief executive of North Cotabato’s capital, Kidapawan City, the now second termer Mayor Joseph Evangelista.

The league’s newly-elected secretary, the neophyte Mayor Noemi Bartolome, a physician by profession, also assured of her commitment to Malacanang’s Mindanao peace process, which aims to put a negotiated closure to the decades-old Moro rebellion.
