SBP-Passarelle cage tournament kicks off Sunday PDF Print E-mail

The Samahang Basketbolista ng Pilipinas (SBP)- PASSARELLE will conduct a one-month Twin Basketball Tournament to be sponsored by Milo Nestle Philippines.

The opening ceremony of the tournament will at 8 a.m. on Sunday at the Mayor Vitaliano Agan Coliseum in Barangay Tetuan.

Former Philippine Basketbal Association player and SBP franchise holder Pedro Alfaro Jr.  disclosed said twin tournament this year is the 28th season in Zamboanga City.

Participating teams are: (Group A- SBP teams)  — Fernadale International School, Inc.( defending champion ), Claret School, Pilar College, St. Joseph and Zion Evangelical School (Group B-SBP teams ) — Western Mindanao State Unversity, Zamboanga Chong Hua Highschool, ADZU and Bethany Child Development Center, Inc.;  (Group A- PASSERELLE teams) — Southern City Colleges (defending champion ), FISI,  BCDCI, WMSU, Universidad de Zamboanga and Ateneo de Zamboanga University, and (Group B-PASSARELLE teams)  — CSZC, Pilar Colleges, ZCHHS, ICAS de Tetuan and ZES.

Alfaro said that the champion in Zamboanga City will represent in the Regional Mindanao finals in Davao City on October, where the winner will complete in the national finals in Bacolod City on November. The officials of the tournament are Atty. Manuel Mamauag, Ferdie Bernabe ( Sports Coordinator), Joel F. Quintanes (Technical Coordinator). Others are Joseph Solamillo and Rezamar Tanjil.

Alfaro said that SBP- PASSARELLE has produced players who are now playing in the PBA in Manila like Jake Chia, Michael Tolomia, Chester Tolomia, Rudy Lingganay, Gens Knuttel and RR Garcia. Peter Alfaro of Gilas under 18 Philippine Team also came from SBP- PASSARELLE  as well as Ryan Amsali Batang Gilas under 16.
