The death toll from the anti-drug war in Zamboanga City climbed to 12 as one more suspect was shot and killed during a buy-bust operation at Mormons Drive, Tetuan early yesterday morning .

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez,  City Police Office Information Officer,  identified the fatality as Jeffrey Atilano alias Jefrox, married.

Investigation showed that men of the Tetuan Police Station led by Supt. Nonito Asdai staged a buy-bust operation around 3:35 a.m. targeting Atilano, but when he was about to be arrested, he reportedly resisted by firing a .38 cal. revolver that triggered a shootout.

Atilano was killed bullet wounds in the body.

During ocular investigation, policemen recovered the .38 cal.revolver with five bullets in the cylinder, one sachet of shabu and marked money.

Atilano in the 12th suspected drug pusherto have died in the city.

Meanwhile, men of the Culianan Police Station led by Chief Insp. Elmer Solon arrested Alshamer Sappari y Alonto, 27, of Zone 1, Mercedes, before midnight  last Friday .

from his possession were six sachets of shabu, marked money and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was detained at the police station while the seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination. — Dan Toribio
