A retired soldier turned sand and gravel businessman was shot dead by two gunmen aboard a motorcycle along Putik-Tumaga road last Monday night.
Police identified the fatality as Gaudencio Bunyie y Francisco, a resident of Atis Drive, Baliwasan. He sustained multiple bullet wounds in the different parts of the body and died on the spot.

A police report disclosed that Bunyie was driving his XRM motorcycle heading east along Tumaga-Putik road around 9:40 p.m. when two men aboard another motorcycle followed him and the backrider shot him repeatedly near the Chinese cemetery, .

A motorist told Daily Zamboanga Times that he was also passing the road when the gun attack took place. He said that when Bunyie fell on the ground, the gunman  continued firing on him.

The driver of the motorcycle also pulled out a pistol and joined his companion in shooting Bunyie.
When they saw Bunyie lifeless, they took his .45 caliber pistol then sped east.

Recovered at the crime scene were four spent shells of .45 caliber pistol, several spent shells of 9mm pistol and a magazine of .45 caliber pistol inside the u-box of Bunyie’s motorcycle.

The Sta. Maria police under Chief Insp. Felix Martinez were still looking into the case for the arrest of the killers. — Dan Toribio Jr.
