The opening of a new treatment plant in Pamucutan is set to boost water production in District I or west coast barangays, the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) announced Monday, August 23.

Production Department Head Engr. Efren Salvacion reported that west coast barangays can expect an increase in water pressure before the year ends with the water treatment plant in Pamucutan completed and awaiting operations.

“We are appealing to west coast barangays to be prepared for an increase in water pressure,” Salvacion said.

Relative to the completion and impending operations of the water plant, Salvacion said the ZCWD is repairing and installing the necessary pipelines and valves to accommodate and deliver the increased water flow to consumers’ households.

A series of dialogue is also being readied to prepare and orient residents on this new, Salvacion noted.

Salvacion likewise noted that the Pamucutan water treatment plant will service the west coast area while the old treatment plant in Pasonanca will focus solely on providing and delivering water to the central and east coast areas.

The water treatment plant is expected to begin its operation sometime in November or December this year. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
