There is no double dead meat at the City Abattoir.

This was confirmed by Assistant City Administrator on Economic Enterprise Apple Go as she refuted reports of alleged double dead meat being distributed in the City.

Go declared that the operations of the City Abattoir are monitored and supervised by meat inspectors from the National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS).

“It did not come from the City Abattoir,” Go said. “It is the NMIS who is in charge of ensuring that once may magkakatay, meron tayong meat inspectors around.”

Go added that the City Abattoir has yet to receive reports of double dead meat bearing the stamp of the City’s slaughter house but assured the public that it will closely watch and monitor the meat products being distributed in the markets.

“Hinuhuli yan kapag may nakitang double dead sa palengke. Hinuhuli in the sense na wala siyang papeles na kinatay siya sa City Abattoir,” Go said.

Meanwhile, Go reported that the City Administrator’s Office has issued to the 158 ukay-ukay vendors a 60-day order to vacate the open space they are presently occupying illegally.

She added that a portion of the main market is being cleared for the use of the said vendors where they can be regulated. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
