City assists families hit by ‘ipo-ipo’ in Zambowood PDF Print E-mail

The City Government through the City social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has assisted the families affected by the whirlwind (ipo-ipo in the vernacular) that hit a sitio in barangay Zambowood in the east coast Sunday night.

CSWDO records show that a total of four houses were damaged by the incident, one of which was totally destroyed. No serious injuries were reported.

Food and relief assistance including mats and pales was extended to the affected families.

The distribution of the assistance was done by CSWDO staff in coordination with barangay officials.

The incident happened as various parts of the country including Zamboanga Peninsula were experiencing inclement weather condition brought about by monsoon rains.

Meanwhile, upon assessment and validation, the CSWDO is expected to recommend for cash assistance to the concerned families as a form of support to persons in crisis situations. — Sheila Covarrubias
