The National Food Authority (NFA) Zamboanga City has warned rice retailers against overpricing and adulterating NFA rice they are selling.

“Mag comply sila sa selling price at yung rebagging dapat di sila mahuli kasi may sanction yan, (referring to the retailers),” Nieves P. Toca, provincial manager, said in an interview.

Sanction for overpricing and adulteration of NFA rice is they will be called to explain and if they cannot justify their license will be canceled.

She assured that constant monitoring is being done by the office to assure NFA rice are sold at the right price and the rice is not adulterated or mixed with commercial rice.

NFA rice is available at Zamboanga City Public Market, Bagsakan, Sta Cruz Commercial Complex and NFA accredited rice retailers located at the barangays. The price of NFA rice is PhP27 per kilo for 25 percent broken while PhP32 per kilo for 15 percent broken.

In Zamboanga City, 80 percent of rice sold is commercial rice while the 20 percent is NFA rice.
