Operatives of the Central Police Station’s Women and Children Protection Desk rounded-up five alleged “free-lance” sex workers in downtown streets Friday night.

Around 10 p.m. a police team headed by Sr. Insp. Izel Maraviles scoured La Purisima, Tomas Claudio and Gov. Lim Avenue where five sex workers were collared.

Taken in by the police were Norshiba Marquez, 20, single from Jolo, Sulu, Arlene Baqui, 21, single, of Sta. Barbara, Arlene Olavidez, 29, single, of Camino Nuevo, Lani Locsin, 25, of Cabatangan and Julie Fronda, 40, single of Armor Village, San Jose Gusu.

They were taken to the Central Police Station for profiling and were advised to stop their activities before they were released.

Police said that the sex workers will be monitored from time to time. – Dan Toribio
