Operatives of the Regional Maritime Unit have apprehended four motorized pumpboats for violating City Fisheries Ordinance No. -89 as amended by Ordinance No. 2005-133.

The apprehension was made during recent seaborne patrols.

The RMU-9 901st Maritime Station led by  Boat Captain SPO1 Juliefer T. Abdurahim together with troopers of Patrol Boat 219 skippered by PO3 Albert Duyungan conducted a seaborne  patrol  operation along the  vicinity water of Barangay Mariki up to Ayala coast and spotted the four motorized pump boats named Sacrifice 2 from barangay Mercedes, Two Sister barangay Mercedes, Kimhar from Taluksangay and Asher Kamas from Barangay Pangapuyan.

When the maritime troopers asked the four boat operators  to stop and present their registration and other pertinent papers, the latter can not produce any.

The lawmen informed the four operators that they have violated City Ordinance number 2002 -89 for no registration  and illegal fishing.

The four operators were ordered to dock their boats at the Regional Maritime Unit-9 finger

Supt. Salbino C. Piad, chief, Regional Maritime Unti-9, commended his men for a job well done as he advisedthem to further intensify seaborne patrol operations so that more illegal fishermen and unregistered motorized pumpboats will be apprehended. — Allen Abastillas
