The Department of Labor and Employment-9 (DOLE-9) will open a one-stop shop for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) to be located at the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration-9 (OWWA-9) office.

Sisinio B. Cano, DOLE 9 regional director, said in an interview that the one-stop shop will open on September 9 where 14 government agencies will converge in one area to help the OFWs.

Some of the agencies included in the one-stop shop are as follows: Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Foreign Affairs, National Bureau of Investigation, Professional Regulation Commission and other agencies which cater to the needs of the OFW’s.

“Gagawa tayo ng one-stop service shop for OFWs kung saan ang agencies of the government will converge para mag bigay ng immediate services sa mga OFW’s,” Cano said.

This will be a big help to OFWs as they will no longer go from one office to another as all of the offices are in one roof.

“Isa din ito sa directive ni President Rodrigo Duterte na huwag pahirapan ang OFWs,” the regional director stressed.

The first one-stop shop was established in Philippine Overseas Employment Agency in Manila and now replicated all over the country.

Meanwhile, aside from the opening of the OFW one-stop shop, on the same date, DOLE will also launch its 24/7 DOLE itextmo hotline.

The public can inquire or bring their complaints via text messaging which will be available for the entire region.

For the DOLE 9 they can text 0917-7244-334, for Zamboanga City Field Office 0917-7244-339, Zamboanga del Sur 0917-7244-337, Zamboanga Sibugay 0917-7244-332, Zamboanga del Norte 0917-3003-653, and for Isabela City 0917-7244-338.

Kung may query sila anything sa trabaho pwede ng mag text,” Cano said.

He also assured that complaints will be acted and there are persons assigned to respond to the text messages. — R.G. A A. Go
