Flower vendors have reported the possible tripling of flower prices, particularly roses, this Valentine’s Day.

The price for a single rose with arrangement is expected to soar from P50 to P150.  A three piece arrangement is expected to go up as high as P500 from P300.

For bunches of flowers, the price of a half dozen roses is expected to rise from P500 to P1,000 while a dozen roses is expected to fetch a price of up to P2,000 from P750.

“Once Valentine’s day, el price del roses ta subi kay amo se el demand del February 14,” Roberto P. Apelo, President of the Zamboanga City Flower Retailers Association said in an interview.

Available local roses come from Davao and Bukidnon, while imported roses come from China and Ecuador.  The roses are brought to Zamboanga via air.

“Si quiere compra flores para na diatun loved ones, tiene kita options aquel pang masa y aquel quiere imported,” Apelo said.

It is already a tradition that roses are being given to loved ones especially during Valentine’s Day.

The flower vendors are currently located along San Jose Road.  (RGAAGo)
