Five killed in Kabasalan grenade attack PDF Print E-mail

Five persons were killed while four others were wounded in a gun and grenade attack in barangay Cainglet, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay last Thursday.

Police Regional Information Officer Supt Rogelio Alabata said that the incident took place around 10:45pm along the national highway of barangay Cainglet.

According to the report, a group of men and women were having a drinking session at the back of a police car at the Donton Auto Repair Shop when one of two men riding tandem on a motorcycle sprayed the group with bullets.

Before leaving the scene, the gunman hurled a fragmentation grenade that killed at least five in the group.

Alabata identified the fatalities as Emeristo Bastasa, Raymart Tena, Asser Mangan, a certain Calig-ug and Delia Pagador, who was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Those who were injured were identified as Alex Angoon, Agnes Abcede Mangan, Syra Mangan and Marisa Cumbal Bucan.

The injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Police are still facing a blank wall as to the identities of the suspects as of press time.
