Amid a red alert status, the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) was one with the rest of the city in celebrating Valentine’s Day yesterday.

The highlight of the celebration was the mass wedding where six inmates married their respective fiancees in the presence of family members.

The couples, who were reportedly living together even before the men entered the city jail, were in their wedding finery.

The civil wedding rites were officiated by Judge Gregorio dela Peña of the Regional Trial Court in Zamboanga.

Meanwhile, a total of four couples,  all inmates, were given free dinner dates where a Mr and Ms Valentine were also chosen.

Jail personnel in uniforms also drove 3 tricycle units and gave free rides to jail visitors.

The visitors were treated to free transportation within a five- kilometer radius area from the jail.

Roses were given out to female visitors.

There are six conjugal rooms inside the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center for the use of married inmates.

The Valentine’s Day program was spearheaded by Zamboanga City Reformatory Center Jail Warden Jail Chief Inspector Ervin Diaz and his personnel. (Dan Toribio)
