The latest strafing incident of a passenger bus in Buenavista is one among a series of  incidents along the Maria Clara L. Lobregat highway in recent years.

In January 2010, 12 persons, including a government doctor, were injured when a passenger bus was ambushed in barangay Licomo in Zamboanga city.

The Rural Transit Bus was traveling along Licomo when unidentified suspects blocked the highway and fired at the bus.

Twelve persons were injured, including the driver and the bus conductor.

The bus, bound for Pagadian city, was carrying 36 passengers.

On August 2012, a bomb exploded inside a passenger bus as it reached the Guiwan terminal in Zamboanga city.

Reports said that the Rural Transit bus had just arrived from Pagadian city when an explosion occurred.

Seven people, including a two-year old, were injured in the blast.

Last year, unidentified men planted an improvised explosive device along the highway in barangay Muti which exploded as two armored cars carrying a huge amount of cash was passing along the road.  (E-media)
