The Curuan police is looking into a lawless group linked to the Abu Sayyaf as suspects behind the ambush of a Rural Transit Bus last Tuesday.

In an interview, Curuan Police Station Commander Ramon Bautista said that they have already interviewed witnesses who have identified some of the suspects.

Most of the suspects identified are members of the Abu Sayyaf group.

The suspects are also reportedly cohorts of Arasani Samlani, the suspect arrested in connection to the massacre of eight fishermen in the waters off Siromon Island in Zamboanga city.

Bautista said that the witnesses will execute sworn affidavits to use as supporting documents in the filing of charges in court against the suspects.

Police and military personnel are still conducting pursuit operations against the suspects.
