A big number of graduates are still inclined to look for jobs instead of becoming entrepreneurs, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI.)

DTI-9 Regional Director Sitti Amina Jain said that only 2 percent of graduates want to be entrepreneurs while 98% of graduates still look for jobs in both the private and public sectors.

Jain said that the DTI has a vision for 30 percent of graduates to go into entrepreneurship every year.

Jain is thus encouraging young graduating students to go into business to become employers in the near future.

The advantage of getting into business is you will be the boss and you will have the opportunity to create employment in the future, Jain pointed out.

She expressed hope that folders of graduates in the near future will contain business plans instead of resumes.  (RGAAGo)
