The deployment of rogue cops to Basilan province will test the bravery and endurance of the newly assigned police personnel.

This was the statement of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Regional Office Commander Chief Supt Theodore Sindac amid concerns on possible dangers to be faced by the newly deployed police personnel in fighting lawless elements such as the Abu Sayyaf group.

“The PNP PRO-ARMM is the Home of the Brave. Makikita mo ang magigiting na pulls,” said Sindac.

Sindac said that the newly deployed policemen will be treated like any ordinary police that had undergone training prior to being absorbed by the PNP.

“Kung may angking galing, dito masusubukan ang tapang nila,” said Sindac.

Meanwhile, concerns were also raised about possible assassination of these policemen while serving in Basilan.

Recall that at least two police personnel were shot last year after being deployed to areas in ARMM and Region 9.

Sindac said that the police personnel have their own firearms to protect them.

He also said that it is unlikely that the deployed policemen will continue their misdeeds in Basilan.

“The fact that they were assigned here was meant to disconnect them from the illegal things they are accused of.  Taking them is extricating them from the network,” Sindac pointed out.  (Liza Jocson)
