One Vietnamese sailor was killed while six others were abducted by Abu Sayyaf gunmen in a seajacking incident at Pearl Bank, Languyan, Tawi Tawi.

Philippine National Police sources in Sulu said that about 5 armed men aboard two boats flagged down and boarded the MV Giang Hai, a Vietnamese cargo vessel with 17 crew members last Sunday evening.

The suspects initially tried to take seven crewmen.

One sailor, who tried to escape and ran from the suspects, was shot dead.

Six sailors, including the captain, were taken by the suspects, leaving ten others behind.

The cargo vessel was soon towed towards Taganak island.

Meanwhile, military foces conducted pursuit operations on islets of Pangutaran and Siasi in Sulu where the suspects were said to have taken their victims.  (E-media)
