First District Congressman Celso Lobregat is eyeing the addition of two more lanes at busy Governor Camins Avenue to make it the first six lane road located in the heart of the city.

Based on Lobregat’s plans, two more lanes will be added on the rightside portion where the Zamboanga Bagsakan Center, ZCWD Pumping station and Centro Pastoral properties are located.

The project will enable motorists going towards Pasonanca and Sta Maria to use the extra lanes and not mix with vehicles going towards the intersection of Governor Camins.

The project is also said to be in preparation for a flyover which will connect Governor Camins Avenue, Sta Cruz and Veterans Avenue.

The proposed six lane road will complement the size of the flyover, thus easing congestion of traffic in the area.

The project located within the Governor Camins and Sta Cruz areas is also expected to complement the ongoing construction of a road widening project in Baliwasan and San Jose Gusu and in the Baliwasan seaside Campung Islam section leading to the city’s west coast.

The Governor Camins road and San Jose Gusu Baliwasan areas are two traffic chokepoints identified by the City Administrator’s office and the City Police.  (Liza Jocson)
