The Zamboanga City Council has revived a proposal to implement a house numbering system in the city, thereby putting to use around 5,000 plates left unused by the city government for the past years.

District Two Councilor Juan Climaco Elago authored a resolution to adopt the house numbering system during the regular session last Tuesday.

The first building that was proposed to receive a number will be City Hall, which will have the number 1 plate.

The councilor is suggesting to the City Housing Office to lead the implementation to include the barangay and other concerned agencies.

Elago outlined the benefits to be obtained from implementing the system, foremost of which is knowing the exact number of houses in Zamboanga city.

Elago also said that the system will be useful in case of raids conducted by the police and in looking for a particular house.

“This will solve a lot of questions ta pregunta kita.  Simple el ordinance pero el effect grande,” said Elago.  (RGAAGo)
