At least two people were injured when earthquakes rocked several parts of Mindanao, including Zamboanga city, yesterday morning.

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology Region-9 Officer in Charge Engr Allan Labayog said that a 3.8 magnitude earthquake was felt by Zamboanga city residents at around 7:36 Thursday morning.

The quake was recorded at intensity 2 in Zamboanga city.

The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 35 kilometers offshore northwest of Siocon municipality in Zamboanga del Norte.

No casualties were reported.

After about two hours, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake rocked Davao city, injuring at least two persons.

Phivolcs reported the epicenter of the earthquake in Davao del Sur with a depth of 15 kilometres.

The earthquake was also reported in Kidapawan city.

The incidents caused concern to Mindanao residents after the recent Surigao city earthquake which killed at least six people.

Last week, the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology asked residents in Metro Manila to prepare for a magnitude 7 earthquake to be generated by the West Valley Fault. (Liza Jocson)
