The Department of Foreign Affairs -Zamboanga Regional Consular Office announced that the electronic passport operations at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas have normalized as technical adjustments have been put in place.

In view of this development, the Consular Office has reduced the passport releasing period to 30 days for Express processing at P1,200 and 40 days for regular processing at P950. The new timeframe for passport processing applies to all Regional Consular Offices nationwide. Passports due for release in August are also now available at the office.

Applicants may claim their passports from Monday to Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Ms. Judith B. Nohay-De Fiesta, ZRCO Head of Office, also clarified that an applicant does not necessarily have to present NBI Clearance when applying for a passport. Basic requirements only include Birth Certificate in security paper from NSO plus Marriage Certificate in security paper for married woman and at least two secondary
documents such as driver’s license, school records, voter’s ID or other official and genuine documents that show full name, birth details and citizenship of the applicant.

Ms Nohay-De Fiesta also reminded that the Consular Office in Zamboanga only accommodates walk-in applicants unlike its Main Office in Manila which implements the Passport Appointment System.
