More than 13,000 board feet of coconut lumber was confiscated by police at the Baliwasan Seaside last Thursday due to documentary irregularities.

According to a police report, personnel from the Zamboanga Police Station 11 stopped an Isuzu drop side vehicle loaded with around 13,432 board feet of coconut lumber along the Baliwasan Seaside, Barangay Baliwasan at around 11:50am last Thursday.

The driver, Stephen Catibot Gomez, 51 years old, presented a Transport/ Transhipment Clearance from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) office in Isabela city.

Police however held the shipment after further verification showed irregularities in the signature contained in the document.

PCA Administrator Avelino Andal reportedly told police to hold the shipment and confiscate the lumber.

The shipment was later turned over to the PCA office located at San Ramon.  (Dan Toribio)
