Police held a man for questioning after discovering a gun in his possession within the vicinity of the civic-military parade during the Dia de Zamboanga activity last Sunday.

Police identified the suspect as Ranie Alcala y Jacobo, married and a resident of Tumaga.

Alcala was apprehended by SPO3 Francisco Enot of Zamboanga City Police Station 11 within the vicinity of the Jasmin Tower at around 1:50pm, an hour before the start of the civic military parade in the area.

Alcala was caught in possession of a .38 revolver with five hallow-point ammunition inside the cylinder.

The gun was discovered inside Alcala’s digital camouflage tactical sling bag with a “SWAT” marking.

The bag also contained a BIR TIN card and a cellphone.
