Hotels, retail and wholesale establishments lead the list of businesses to be prioritized by the Department of Labor and Employment in its yearly assessment.

DOLE Regional Director 9 Sisinio B. Cano has already issued the authority to DOLE Region 9 Labor Law Compliance Officers (LLCO) to conduct the assessment in cities and provinces under region 9.

The assessment is made to assure the safety of workers and compliance of labor standards by the establishments.

Also included in the list of establishments to undergo assessment are malls, fast food chains, hospitals, and manufacturing centers.

DOLE will also focus its assessment on establishments with expired Certificates of Compliance and contractors with expiring Certificates of Compliance.

The LLCOs will check if the businesses are complying with minimum wage, benefits, and other mandated pay the workers must receive.

The labor team will also check the area where the laborers are working and the machines they are using.

“Ang hiling namin is they will cooperate and welcome our LLCOs kasi in a way, matutulungan sila on how to be compliant if may nakitang deficiencies,” said Maria Elena T. Alabata, DOLE 9 Supervising Labor and Employment Officer. (RGAAGo)
