A man who attempted to shoot another was dealt a double dose of karma after accidentally shooting himself with his gun and getting himself arrested for drug possession while he was seeking treatment at a hospital last Sunday.

The suspect was identified as Rodel Gregorio Julian, 35 years old, married and a resident of San Roque.

The victim was identified as Michael Sabilyano Yanga, 24 years old, married.

Investigation showed that Julian tried to shoot Yanga but missed his target as the latter was walking towards his house last Sunday.

In his escape, Julian tried to insert his gun in his right pocket but the gun went off, hitting him on his right thigh.

Julian was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Responding policemen from the Sta Maria Police Station swooped down on the hospital and in the course of their investigation, recovered illegal drug items from the suspect:  a sling bag containing an eye glass case with a sachet of suspected shabu, two sachets of suspected ecstasy, and other drug paraphernalia.

The gun, however, was not mentioned in the report.

The seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

Police said that after medical treatment, Julian will be detained and charged for illegal possession of prohibited drugs.  (Dan Toribio)
