A man was killed while his brother-in-law was hurt during a bolo duel in Salaan last Monday.

Culianan Police Station Commander Chief Inspector Elmer Solon identified the fatality as Henry Perez y Tayco, married and a resident of Tolosa.

His brother in law was identified as Oswin dela Cruz y De Jesus, 25 years old, married and a resident of Sitio Hapa, Salaan.

A police report disclosed that Perez and Dela Cruz engaged in a bolo duel during a heated argument after meeting each other in Sitio Lugakit at around 3pm last Monday.

Perez hacked Dela Cruz on the right elbow and although wounded, the latter managed to stab the former on the chest, a fatal blow which caused his death.

Dela Cruz escaped after the incident and proceeded to Ayala where he surrendered at the Ayala Police Station at around 7pm.

The suspect was later brought to the Culianan Police Station where he is presently detained.

It was learned that the bolo duel was prompted by an old misunderstanding between the two. (Dan Toribio)
