Ten nabbed as PNP war against drugs resume PDF Print E-mail

Ten persons, including a sub-leader of a criminal group, were arrested in separate police operations against prohibited drugs dubbed as “Project Double Barrel Alpha Reloaded” in Zamboanga Peninsula, recently.

Police Regional Information Officer, Supt. Rogelio Alabata disclosed that the operations were conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The operations were launched in Zamboanga City, Sibugay, Del Sur and Del Norte right after the resumption of the Philippine National Police war against drugs on the first week of March.

In Zamboanga City, operatives of Ayala Police Station, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 9 led by Supt. Ferjen Torred, Regional Public Safety Battalion 9, 55th Special Action Battalion and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 9, conducted an anti –illegal drugs operation in Purok 7, Barangay Recodo at around 6:00 a.m. that led to the arrest of Ababil Hasan y Jamil, 33, married, Barangay Treasurer of Sangbay Small, Basilan Province.

Authorities confiscated from his possession a .45 caliber pistol  bearing serial number 107193, two magazines with ten ammunition, holster colored black and assorted drug paraphernalia.

The operating team was targeting the Allama Group, said to be responsible in the resurgence of drug pushing and other criminal activities in Recodo.

In Zamboanga Del Sur, the leader of Andi Group, a criminal gang, identified as Fahad Andi, was killed after he and his men engaged in a firefight with policemen of Lapuyan Municipal Police Station, PDEA9, NISG, 12th MICO and Zamboanga Del Sur Public Safety Company in Barangay Pampang, Lapuyan, Margosatubig, Zamboanga Del Sur, at around 10:50 a.m. last March 6.

Two policemen were also wounded during the operation. They were identified as Insp. Anjelo Acuzar and PO2 Jerome Tari, both assigned at the Zamboanga Del Sur Public Safety Company.

After the gunfight, the team recovered a .45 caliber pistol with defaced serial number, magazine with two ammunition, fragmentation grenade, four sachets of suspected shabu, lighter, one scooper, one black bandolier back pack, a PNP camouflage green uniform with PRO ARMM logo and one camouflage sling bag.

The operation team was targeting the Andi Drug Group said to be responsible in the resurgence of drug pushing and trafficking in Dinas, Lapuyan, Margosatubig and other neighboring municipalities.

The criminal group is also involved in kidnappings, gun for hire and extortion activities in the said municipalities.

In Zamboanga Sibugay Province, 12 sachets of suspected shabu were confiscated and four high value target drug personalities were arrested during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Imelda, Buug and Malangas.

The arrested suspects were identified as Sherlito Valderrosa and Richard Vasquez, both arrested at Barangay Lower Baluran, Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay at about 7:20 p.m. of March 6; Roberto Salvador, listed as No. 10 High Value Target personality who was arrested in Barangay Poblacion, Buug at about 2:30 p.m. of March 6, and Abdullah Modapil, arrested in Barangay Poblacion, Malangas.

In Zamboanga Del Norte, five drug personalities were arrested and sixty five sachets of Shabu were confiscated during a simultaneous operation on illegal drugs in Dapitan City, Salug, Liloy and Sindangan.

Arrested were Jonathan Kerwin Tibor and Rene Balladares. They were nabbed  by Dapitan City Police and PDEA9 in Barangay Banonong, Dapitan City at around 6:30 p.m. of March 6; Michael Tesero was collared by Liloy Municipal Police and PDEA9 agents in Barangay Fatima, Liloy around 4:50 p.m. of March 6, and Florencio Simong alias “Bitay”, was arrested by Sindangan Municpal Police and PDEA9 in Barangay La Roche, Sindangan at 12:15 p.m. of March 6.

With this positive developments, Police Regional Director, Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, commended the operating police units of PRO9 and PDEA for the arrest of drug personalities involved in drug pushing/trafficking in Zamboanga Peninsula.

Beltran once again urged the public to support the police in the campaign against illegal drugs by providing relevant and timely information on the identity of drug personalities in their respective places and to report it to the nearest police station or to the PNP hotline numbers 911- 09178475757 – 09175062000 and KKK Mobile App. (Dan Toribio)
