Congressman Celso Lobregat and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Regional Director Raul Regondola, spearheaded yesterday morning the official turn-over of a brand new ambulance to the Labuan Public Hospital (LPH).

The activity was witnessed by LPH Chief of Hospital, Dr. Alexis Roy Valdez, Labuan Barangay Chairman Ronald Maravilla, Councilors Myra Paz Abubakar, Boday Cabato and Rudy Lim and other stakeholders of the barangay.

Dr. Galvez said that for a long time, they have been longing for more equipment assistance from the government, being under the care of the Department of Health (DOH). He said the request for ambulance was made in December 2012, and it was only granted last February 20, 2017 when Congressman Celso Lobregat made representations to PCSO upon learning the problem and necessity from Dr. Valdez.

“If not because of the effort of Congressman Lobregat, we are not sure if we have this ambulance today. His request was acted upon by PCSO immediately with his personal representations. We really thank him for this,” Dr. Valdez said.

Barangay Chairman Ronald Maravilla said the new ambulance will truly help his constituents situated far from the city proper.

“In behalf of my constituents, we thank our very supportive congressman for looking into the needs of our hospital and our constituents here. Bien grande ayuda gat kanamon este ambulancia,” Maravilla said.

Congressman Celso Lobregat also lauded Director Regondola for acting immediately on his request for LPH.

The solon said that other than the ambulance, he has maintained his constant medical assistance to the constituents of Labuan and extended all efforts in congress to lobby for medical equipment from the DOH national office.

He said that he is serious in looking into the welfare of this 10-bed capacity hospital which was established in 1983 under Batas Pambansa Blg.517, that created the Labuan Public Hospital.

Lobregat filed House Bill 4945 which seeks the conversion of LPH into a Level II General Hospital, to be known as Labuan General Hospital.

The Labuan Public Hospital is a 10-bed capacity hospital which provides preventive and curative services to the residents of Labuan and the nearby barangays.

Lobregat said, with the rapid increase in population of the city, the existing health facility of the Labuan Public Hospital, which was created more than 33 years ago, is extremely inadequate to accommodate the increasing number of patients coming to the hospital daily, and he is presently moving swiftly in congress to fast track the passage of the bill.
