One dead, two hurt in dynamite blast Print

A blast fisherman died while his two companions were wounded when an improvised dynamite used for blast fishing prematurely exploded while in their possession off Litayon, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay, last Saturday morning.

Police Regional Information Officer, Supt. Rogelio Alabata identified the fatality as Kasim Marjuki. The wounded were idntified as Abubakar Jammang, 45, married and Arab Pala Asmad, 55, married, all residents of barangay Litayon, Alicia.

Marjuki sustained fatal injuries in the body and died on the spot while his two companions suffered burns and wounds.

Jammang and Asmad were taken to the hospital for treatment while the cadaver of Marjuki was later turned over to his relatives for burial services in Islam rites.

Police said, the three were on fishing venture when suddenly, the improvised explosive in the hands of Marjuki prematurely exploded. – Dan Toribio
