Village chief dead, kagawad son wounded in gun attack PDF Print E-mail

A barangay chairman was killed while his son, a kagawad, was seriously wounded after they were shot by a farmer in Barangay Dagatan, Suminot, Zamboanga del Sur, last Monday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Paterno Octao, 52. He succumbed to nine gunshot wounds in the different parts of the body.
Still fighting for his life in the hospital was Jupiter, 24, with gunshot wounds in the body.

Police identified the attacker as Munardo Casing, 26, married. He eluded arrest.

Investigation disclosed that the father and son were on their way home aboard a motorcycle around 8 a.m. when they were attacked by Casing using a .45 caliber pistol.

Casing blocked Octao’s path and peppered opened fire on them. Jupiter was able to run despite the wounds, but his father died on the spot.
Policemen who rushed to the crime scene recovered several empty shells of .45 caliber pistol. —Noning R. Antonio
