CDRRMO: Consultations prior to forced relocation PDF Print E-mail

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) is preparing to conduct its forced relocation of residents living in disaster-prone and hazardous areas.

Dr. Elmier Apolinario, CDRRM Officer, said that a resolution was already approved by the CDRRM Council as basis for an ordinance to be approved in the future.

“We have to remove people from hazardous areas.  Tiene se mandato.  Diamun mandato na RA 10121 is we have to enforce Disaster Risk Reduction Management initiatives,” Apolinario said.

The CDRRM Office is planning to relocate residents staying along the riverbanks and other flood-prone and hazardous areas.

Apolinario however said that prior consultation will be conducted and there will be no displacement of livelihood.

The basis of the CDRRMO assessment will be the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) geohazard maps.  (RGAAGo)
