An experimental traffic scheme, characterized by designating certain streets as one-way roads, is scheduled to be implemented on March 20, Monday.

This after the new scheme was approved by the City Council during its regular session yesterday.

The scheme was initially scheduled for implementation on March 15.

Authorities however decided to move the implementation to March 20 to provide ample time for information dissemination.

The new rerouting scheme will be subject to a 15-day experimental implementation for information and public dissemination, where violators will be given warnings.

During this period, signages will also be placed on streets to guide motorists.

A total of 52 traffic aides and 26 police personnel will be deployed in the streets on shifts.

The implementation of the new traffic and one-way scheme is scheduled from 7am to 8pm Monday to Fridays, excluding holidays.

Vehicles responding to emergency situations such as ambulances, fire trucks, and police and military vehicles are exempted from the coverage. (Alinazar Lahid/ E-media)
