The Highway Patrol Group held a command conference yesterday to address the “Rentangay” problem which has victimized thousands of car owners.

The command conference aims to identify vehicles that were brought to Mindanao belonging to car owners mostly from Luzon who have been victimized in the scheme.

The other week, the Highway Patrol Group started its operation to check on luxury cars running in provinces and cities in the region.

Highway Patrol Group Provincial Chief Supt Joshua Alejandro also asked people, particularly car owners, to be vigilant to avoid being victimized in the scheme.

Alejandro advised car owners not to be tempted by persons who offer huge amounts of money to rent their vehicles.

He also said to be wary of people who introduce themselves as car salesmen offering to sell them vehicles for a small amount.

Alejandro said that the directive to check all vehicles in the region is based on an order by PNP Chief Gen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. (Allen Abastillas)
