Congressman Celso Lobregat is urging the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) District Engineering Office to “double time” in the implementation of the ongoing road widening projects being done along the stretch of Baliwasan to San Roque-Suterville intersection as well as the Baliwasan Seaside sections, in order to materialize the remedy on the traffic congestion being experienced in the said road networks leading to the city proper.

As the experimental traffic scheme has started, Lobregat said that it is but proper for the DPWH to compliment the said LGU initiatives and take advantage of the said scheme in order for their contractors to be able to fast track the completion of the widening project as well as their mobility in constructing the same.

Lobregat and DPWH officials inspected the status of the road widening projects in San Jose Road and Baliwasan seaside where demolition of affected properties as well as laying of concrete foundation for the road expansion is being undertaken by the designated contractors.

The solon said that since one of the worsening problems confronting our city is the traffic congestion for his part, he is doing his share in solving the problem and implementing concrete solutions with the widening of the ZC Labuan-Limpapa road (from 2 lanes to 4 lanes) to include the choke point from Baliwasan Chico to San Jose Gusu section and also the widening of the Baliwasan seaside road (from 2 lanes to 4 lanes) from Baliwasan Chico/R.T Lim section to Taupan road/Suterville where the present Phase 1 of experimental traffic scheme is being implemented.

He is optimistic that the ongoing road widening project will be completed in its prescribed number of calendar days in order to ease up the flow of traffic in the area and in time for the start of classes by June this year where volume of private and public vehicles will be duplicated plying the routes from the west coast towards the city proper and vice-versa.

“By the time Baliwasan Seaside and San Jose sections will be completed, this will be the concrete solution to our traffic woes leading to the city proper,” Lobregat said.
