The City Council commended Mayor Celso Lobregat thru a resolution for his 4th Hall-of-Fame Sandugo Award as an Outstanding Local Government Executive for six consecutive years which was conferred by the Department of Health last July 26, at the Diamond Hotel, Manila.

Resolution No. 761 cited the Mayor “for his outstanding support, commitment and active involvement in the promotion of voluntary blood donation for six (6) consecutive years”, making him a consistent recipient of the prestigious award since 2005.

The National Sandugo Award is an initiative of the DOH in cooperation with the Philippine Blood Coordinating Council (PBCC) and the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) to recognize local government executives who have shown support and commitment to the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP).

This annual selection of awardees is enforced by virtue of Republic Act 7719 otherwise known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994.

Since elected as mayor, Lobregat has been very supportive of the plans and programs of the PNRC extending assistance thru trainings and financial aid to ensure the smooth operation of the local blood bank.
