All single motorcycles in Lamitan city are now required to have stickers.

This after the Lamitan City Council passed a resolution requiring all motorcycle owners to place a sticker on their units.

The objective of the resolution is to identify units whose owners are residents of the city and those who are not, according to Lamitan Vice Mayor Roderick Furigay.

The resolution is also aimed towards preventing the occurrences of crime where the perpetrators use motorcycles in committing lawless acts.

Based on reports, motorcycles have become the vehicle of choice by criminals who easily escape authorities after accomplishing their crimes.

The use of the stickers will not only identify the motorcycle owners but will help authorities in determining if the unit used is owned by a Basilan resident.

Furigay pointed out that most crimes in the city are committed by outsiders using single motorcycles.  (Allen Abastillas)
