Troops of the Army’s 18th Infantry Battalion were harassed by  an armed group led by a wanted man in Barangay Busay, Sacol Island at noon last Tuesday.

A police report disclosed that the armed men led by Emran Asgari, a man with pending warrant of arrest for two counts of murder surprised the soldiers under Cpl. Ibrahim Abtalin in their outpost around 12 noon.

The report said that Asgari’s group rained the detachment with bullets prompting government forces to return fire triggering a brief encounter.
The firefight lasted for five minutes afterwhich Asgari’s group withdrew towards a forested area.

No casualty in the encounter.

In another police report of the same incident, it was said that Asgari was spotted by troops who tried to serve his warrant of arrest.
