Eight free lance sex workers were rescued by police operatives last Friday.

A police report disclosed that the sex workers were spotted in major thoroughfares waiting for clients.

This prompted the lawmen to round them up and bring them to the police office for counselling.

The workers, whose ages range from 19 to 33, are residents of different barangays.

The rescue of the female workers is part of the continuous police program aimed towards saving them from contracting sexual diseases and being possible victims of crimes.

Policewomen counselled them to avoid their usual line of work before they were released.

A police official said that the rescue operation will continue in the nights to come. (Dan Toribio)
