The skeletal remains of an unidentified member of a New People’s Army member was found in Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur last Saturday.

A Police Regional Office-9 report said that the skeletal remains were found at the boundary of Barangays Supon and Camp Blessing in Bayog.

According to the report, a farmer identified as Agustino Gerebise noticed the skeleton at a bushy area beside a huge log noontime Saturday.

The skeleton was still garbed in a black sweatshirt with the print “Bagong Hukbong Bayan” on the front and “New People’s Army- Zamboanga del Sur” at the back.

The clothing was said to be similar to the one worn by two NPA members who were killed in action during a previous encounter.

The skeletal remains were believed to belong to an NPA member who was killed in an encounter between policemen of the Bayog Municipal Police Station and the NPA’s Kara-Syp Natarang Guerilla under the command of Kumander Natan that happened on July 4, 2016 in barangay Supon.

Police also recovered a pair of black short pants, a white empty plastic gallon container and bandage.

All the recovered items will be processed by the Provincial Crime Laboratory for proper disposition.  (Liza Jocson)
