The Zamboanga City Sea-based Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force favors the proposed the establishment of a “one-stop” shop to check passengers at the Zamboanga City International Airport who are bound for Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

The proposal was made by the regional chief of the  Police Center for Aviation Security, Sr. Supt. Peter Rosano Donato.
Donato said the proposed “one-stop” shop is intended to check all the passengers travelling for Sulu and Tawi-Tawi to intercept any attempt to traffic job seekers going to Sabah, Malaysia.

He said that human traffickers use the fastest transportation mode to transport their victims to their destination and be successful in their modus operandi.

Donato said that most victims of human trafficking are people from the different provinces in the country who are poor and are desperate to work any kind of jobs.

The acceptance of the proposed “one-stop” shop was made during a meeting of the ZCSBATT last July 22,2011 attended by all members of the task force at the Zamboanga International Airport. It was presented by Insp. Vic Bato. — Allen Abastillas
