The so-called Acetylene gang struck in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte victimizing a pawnshop of some P4 million in jewelries and cash at dawn last Monday.
A police report disclosed that the robbers broke into the Vanex Pawnshop by digging a tunnel leading to the establishment.

Investigation disclosed that the robbers used acetylene and bolt cutter in opening a vault where the jewelries are kept.
Beforehand, the robbers used hammer, jack, crow bar, and hacksaw in destroying the cemented floor to get into the pawnshop from the tunnel they have dug.

The gang rented a house near the pawnshop from they dug a tunnel leading to the pawnshop.
Police believe the digging took place several days ago prior to the discovery of the incident.

After the robbery, the robbers left their paraphernalia they used in the commission of the crime.
Police believe the same gang had victimized at least four pawnshops in Zamboanga City.

Investigators had earlier suspected the gang members are former miners because they are skilled in digging a tunnel. — Noning R. Antonio
