There were no contraband items recovered during the Oplan Galugad operation conducted by combined elements from the police, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology yesterday.

The operation started at 4am and ended after three hours.

The inmates were taken out of their cells and taken to the basketball court to give way to lawmen to conduct the inspection.

Personnel from the PDEA, the local police and the bomb squad with sniffing dogs entered the detention cells and checked the inmates’ belongings.

Authorities were able to confiscate 24 assorted nails, 2 nail cutters, 3 uncut toothbrushes, 3 ballpens, 2 pieces of wire and 4 belts.

Diaz said that the BJMP is implementing strict security measures for visitors to prevent prohibited items from being brought inside the jail premises.  (Dan Toribio)
