A Dacon security escort was killed while the driver of the company truck was wounded in an ambush in Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte last Saturday.

The fatality was identified as Daniel Pondusan, 27 years old, a member of the Special Civilian Armed Auxiliary (SCAA.)

The driver was identified as Jeffrey Tabotabo, company driver of Dacon Company.  He sustained bullet wounds in various parts of the body and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A police report disclosed that Tabotabo was driving the company truck with Pondusan and a warehouse man while heading towards their main plant in barangay San Nicolas at around 7am last Saturday when the incident happened.

When the truck reached the border of Culasian and Motong, a group of armed men rained the truck with bullets.

Pondusan was immediately killed and his M14 rifle taken by the suspects while Tabotabo escaped.

The warehouse man was not mentioned in the police report.

DZT gathered that the motive of the ambush was an unresolved dispute between the natives of Sirawai and Dacon Company.  (Dan Toribio)
