House raided: Guns, ammos seized, former soldier nabbed PDF Print E-mail

A former soldier turned businessman was arrested after soldiers and policemen recovered several high-powered firearms and ammunition during a raid at his house in Barangay San Vicente, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte last Tuesday morning.
Arrested was Simon Satera y Cane, 47, married.

The raid was carried out by men of the Sirawai police station  and troops from the 44th Infantry Battalion on the strength of a search warrant issued by the 4th Municipal Trial Court of the 9th Judicial Region based in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.

The raiding team recovered a shotgun, a .45 caliber pistol, a .38 cal. revolver, a .22 magnum revolver, four hand grenades, three rifle grenades, seven magazines for .45 caliber pistol, 91 rounds of ammunition for .22 revolver, 74 rounds of ammunitions for M16 rifle, 73 rounds of ammunition for .38 cal. revolver, 35 rounds of ammunition for 9mm pistol, 17 rounds of ammunition for shotgun, 16 rounds of ammunition for super .380 pistol, three bullets for 50 caliber machinegun, one set of pistol silencer, one set of handheld radio and a fan knife.

Satera was detained at the Sirawai Municipal Police pending the filing of charges against him in court. — Dan Toribio Jr.
